Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Ishq collects about you, why, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. It applies to the Ishq Android app and this website.
Ishq is operated by FLATPING INFOTECH (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED, 6/17, 18, Double Story, Jangpura Extension, Jangpura, New Delhi – 110014, Delhi, India. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we are the Data Fiduciary for the information described here.
1. What we collect

2. Location — we store your city, not your position
This is the most important thing in this policy, so it gets its own section.
Ishq does not track your location. When you browse profiles, the app does not read your phone’s GPS and does not ask for permission to. It uses the city you selected, and treats you as being at the centre of that city.
Distances shown in the app are measured between city centres. This is deliberate: if the app reported your real position, somebody could move around, watch how the distance to you changed, and work out roughly where you live. Because everybody is placed at their city centre, that does not work.
If you tap “use my current location” on the city screen, the app asks your phone for your position once, uses it only to pick the nearest city from a list, and stores that city. Your actual coordinates are not saved.
3. Verification documents
To verify your account you submit a photograph of yourself and an identity document. We use these only to decide whether to verify you.
- They are stored in private storage, separately from your profile.
- They are never shown on your profile and are never visible to other users.
- They are reviewed only by us.
- We delete your identity document within 90 days of the verification decision, and immediately if you delete your account. We keep only the fact that you were verified and the date.
We do not use your identity document for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than verification and responding to a lawful request.
4. What we never collect
- Your phone number.
- Your contacts.
- Your continuous or background location.
- Payment details — there is nothing to pay for.
5. Who else sees your information
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising.
Other users see your photographs, first name, age, city, distance, and any optional details you filled in. They do not see your email address, your date of birth, your verification documents, or your exact location.
Service providers who process data so the app can work:
- Supabase — hosts our database, sign-in and file storage. Our data is stored in Supabase’s Mumbai region.
- Google — provides sign-in, and delivers notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — receives crash and error reports.
We may disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect someone’s safety.
6. Security
Your information is encrypted while travelling between your phone and our servers, and encrypted where it is stored. Access to the database is restricted, and each person can normally only read their own records.
Ishq does not use end-to-end encryption, and we will not claim that it does. We must be able to inspect content that is reported to us, and to screen images for illegal material. An app that genuinely could not read anything could not do either.
7. How long we keep things
- While your account exists: we keep your profile and activity so the app works.
- When you delete your account: see deleting your account. We action deletion requests within 7 days.
- Messages: deleted permanently when you block or unmatch the other person, or when either of you deletes their account.
- Identity documents: deleted within 90 days of the verification decision, or immediately on account deletion.
- Reports and moderation records: kept for 12 months after the report is closed, so repeat behaviour can be recognised and appeals can be reviewed.
- Crash reports: kept for 90 days.
8. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and how it has been used;
- ask us to correct or complete anything wrong;
- ask us to erase your data — see deleting your account;
- withdraw consent you previously gave;
- nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated;
- complain to us first, and to the Data Protection Board of India if we do not resolve it.
To exercise any of these, write to info@ishq.net.in. We reply within 30 days.
9. Children
Ishq is only for adults. You must be 18 or over. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use Ishq, and we delete any account we find belonging to a minor. If you believe a minor is using Ishq, report the profile in the app or write to info@ishq.net.in and we will act on it as a priority.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app where the change is significant.
