Delete your account

You can delete your Ishq account whenever you want. You do not have to give a reason, and you do not need to sign in to ask us to do it.

In the app

1. Open Ishq.
2. Go to Profile, then Settings.
3. Tap Delete account.
4. Confirm. Your account is deleted.

By email, if you cannot get into the app

Write to info@ishq.net.in from the email address you used to sign in to Ishq, with the subject Delete my account.

We use the address you write from to identify your account, which is why it has to be the same one. If you no longer have access to it, tell us and we will ask you for something else that shows the account is yours.

We action deletion requests within 7 days of receiving them.

What gets deleted

• Your profile — name, age, photographs, city, and every optional detail.
• Your matches, and everyone you liked or passed on.
• Your conversations and all messages in them.
• Your verification photographs and identity document.
• Your settings and notification preferences.

What we keep, and why

We keep a small amount of information after deletion, because deleting it would let someone escape a safety decision by making a new account:

• Reports made about you, and any moderation action taken — kept for 12 months after the report is closed. These are held separately and are not linked to a profile anyone can see.
• Records we are required by law to keep, for as long as the law requires.

Messages you sent to other people are deleted along with the conversation.

If you just want a break

You do not have to delete your account to stop being seen. In Settings you can turn off being findable, and you can block anyone you do not want contact from. Those are reversible. Deletion is not.
